Special Investigations Unit
The Special Investigations Unit is the branch of the Detective Division that deals with Narcotics, Vice and Organized Crime offenses. The SIU executes search warrants on narcotic activity and investigations of this nature result in seized assets such as motor vehicles and cash. The SIU works in conjunction with other local law enforcement agencies to collectively alleviate narcotic nuisances through collaborative investigations. The Unit also assists federal law enforcement agencies on narcotics and narcotic related investigations. In 2007, the SIU took part in “Operation Hook a Crook.” This multi jurisdictional narcotics investigation resulted in the arrest of 28 suspects.
