Planning & Research Division

Planning & Research Division is responsible for the logistical support of the police department. This includes finance, detail billing and scheduling, records, and clerical staff. The support provided by Planning & Research is vital to the efficient allocation of operational resources.

Planning & Research conducts research and analyzes the methods and results of services provided to the community. Under the direction of the Chief of Police, the command staff provides Planning & Research with statistical information, operations planning, staffing allocations, National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) reports, traffic crash and enforcement data, grant information, training data, capital improvement plans, and crime analysis. All of this information is used to actively develop plans to improve operational effectiveness. The knowledge gained through this detailed process ensures that the Chief of Police will have access to those innovations to policing which will effectively augment the mission of the department.
