Things to Know

If you have purchased a vehicle with a title from another state, or if you have a car that was previously registered in another state, you must have the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on your paperwork checked against the actual VIN on your vehicle to make sure the two numbers match.

VIN Verification Station

The Cranston Police Department has a VIN verification station conveniently located at 929 Phenix Avenue in Cranston, less than 3 miles from the Rhode Island Department of Motor Vehicles Registry. The VIN verification station is open daily, Monday - Friday, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The fee for the service is $15.00 and it MUST be paid by check or money order ONLY.
